Mets Domination in WBC

The Mets dominated tonight's pool 2 WBC match-up in Miami. Carlos Delgado smacked a bomb of a home run to dead center off of Ted Lilly in the fourth. Carlos Beltran, whose numbers and jovial temperament have caught eyes this tournament, made an over the wall grab off a shot by Brian McCann in the 3rd. Nelson Figueroa threw 2 1/3 no hit innings for Puerto Rico. JJ Putz tossed a perfect 8th inning with 2 strikeouts.

But David Wright. Mr. "non-clutch," according to multiple New York op-eds this off-season, led team USA into Los Angeles tonight. With the bases jacked and the US down by 1 run in the ninth, David hit an inside pitch to the opposite field for 2 runs, completing a game that saw him go 3 for 4 with 3 RBI's. He also scored an early run in the game diving into home.

I understand the discrepancies with the WBC, and will fully admit to getting nervous a few times tonight. I would however like to see someone watch video from tonight's game and tell me it wasn't exciting baseball. More importantly, watch the game and tell me it didn't make them excited about the 2009 New York Metropolitans.
